On the morning of May 25th, 2016, BFA Energy, Resources and Sustainable Development Conference & AEF Silk Road Countries Forum was held in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstani Prime Minister Karim Massimov attended and addressed the conference.

Massimov said that China’s ancient Silk Road has promoted the exchange of trade, experience and knowledge along the route and contributed to the peace and development on the Eurasian Continent. The Eurasian economic boom manifested once again the importance of close cooperation between Asia and Europe. In September 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward “Silk Road Economic Belt”, offering new thinking on the economic and financial development of countries along the route. Kazakhstani President Nazarbayev supports this initiative as well as its substantial progress.

Massimov noted that the “Belt & Road” is one of the grandest projects in the 21st century, closely connecting the three big regions in the world’, which is bound to facilitate the cross-border exchanges and investment among countries including Kazakhstan. It is worth noting that Kazakhstan’s new economic policies highly fit in and is closely associated with the “Belt & Road”. It is believed at the Eurasian Economic Union summit that the “Belt & Road” initiative is very suitable for the development of Central Asian countries and will inject vitality into the economic development of countries along the route. Rebuilding Silk Road is of great significance.

Massimov expressed thanks to BFA for participating in and supporting Astana Economic Forum.
