福特斯丘金属集团董事长

Fortescue Metals Group

Andrew Forrest is one of the most socially impactful philanthropists and effective business leaders of his generation.  He founded the Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) in 2003, which has become one of the world’s largest iron ore companies. Businesses founded by Andrew now rank in the world top five for the production of iron ore, nickel and cobalt, fundamental materials to the world’s growth economies.  In 2001, Andrew founded the Minderoo Foundation and in 2011 stepped down as CEO of FMG to focus on Minderoo’s philanthropic work. The majority of his time and focus is devoted to improvement in the lives of the world’s most underprivileged. The main vehicles of this improvement are: GenerationOne, ending Indigenous disparity in Australia and the Walk Free Foundation, eliminating global modern day slavery.  Andrew founded (2012) and co-chairs the Australian-China Senior Business Leaders Forum and Australia Sino One Hundred Year Agricultural and Food Safety Partnership, working with both nations’ most senior government and business leaders. He has been awarded numerous lifetime achievement awards including an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Western Australia for his contribution to the community. He was appointed by the Prime Minister of Australia to chair a Review into Indigenous Employment and Training, with the specific aim of ending Indigenous disparity through employment.  Andrew is a Councillor of the Global Citizen Commission reporting to the United Nations General Assembly in 2016. The Commission is charged with the reformation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).  As head of the Walk Free Foundation he has united business leaders, government leaders and religious leaders from all over the world to eradicate modern slavery from the global community. In November 2016, Andrew was named the 2017 Australian of the Year for Western Australia.
