Sichuan Yibin Wuliangye Group Co., Ltd. is a large Stated Owned Enterprise group that mainly specializes in the liquor business, and also engages in five other industries, including machinery, packaging, logistics, finance and health; it is also known as the “King of Chinese liquor industry”. The company covers an area of 12 square kilometers and has approximately 50,000 registered employees. It owns a group of old cellars, which have been in use since the beginning of the Ming dynasty, and a large number of modernized and large-scale distilleries. In 2017, the sales revenue of the group reached 80.22 billion CNY, with year-on-year growth of 14.1%; profits and taxes totaled 22.2 billion CNY, increased 41% year on year; total assets reached 108.549 billion CNY, increased 14.0% year on year.


Retrospect to the Zhongbijiu in the Tang dynasty, the Yaozixuequ in the Song dynasty and Zaliangjiu in early Ming dynasty, and the present name—Wuliangye since 1909, it has enjoyed a history over one thousand years. The predecessor of Wuliangye Group dated back to the United 24 SOE Monopoly Distillery of South Sichuan Zone Yibin area, which was established in 1952 on the basis of Yibin Daqujiu Brewing Associates merged by 8 private distilleries, including Changfasheng, Lichuanhyong, Zhangwanhe, Zhongsanhe, Liudingxing, WanliyuanChang, Tingyuelou, Quanxinchang. In 1959, the united distillery was renamed Sichuan Local State Owned Yibin Wuliangye distillery; in 1998, it was reorganized into Yibin Wuliangye Group Co., Ltd.


Since Wuliangye was awarded the gold prize at Panama International Exposition in 1915, it has won more than 100 international rewards, including National Famous Liquor, National Quality Management Award, The Best Credit Enterprise in China, The Centennial Expo & the Centennial Golden Award. In 2008, the traditional baijiu-brewing techniques of Wuliangye was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. In 2017, the brand value of Wuliangye ranked No. 60 in the “top 500 Asian brands”, No. 100 in the “top 500 Most Valuable Brands in the World” and No. 338 in the “World’s 500 Most Influential Brands”.
