Secretary-General Li Baodong met with Ms. Gabriela Ramos, OECD Chief of Staff and Sherpa to the G20

Mr. LI Baodong, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), met with Ms. Gabriela Ramos, OECD Chief of Staff and Sherpa to the G20 at BFA Secretariat on Dec. 20th, 2019. The two sides discussed the current international economic situations and the future cooperation between BFA and OECD.

Secretary-General LI Baodong welcomed Ms. Gabriela Ramos and thanked the long time support from OECD. Moreover, Secretary-General said that the Boao Forum for Asia is an international organization based in Asia with a global outlook. Under the leadership of the new Board of Directors, the forum takes economic development as the running theme and expands into five focal areas, which are technology and innovation, health, education, culture exchange and media. Rising uncertainties of the world economy, protectionism, unilateralism and trade frictions have undermined investor confidence and slowed down economic growth. As responsible international economic organizations, the two sides are obliged to step up cooperation in jointly promoting multilateralism, free trade and globalization, and stimulating inclusive growth of the world economy.

Gabriela mentioned that the OECD would like to engage with  Boao Forum for Asia and reach out to Asian countries  via the forum. OECD shares some of priority areas with BFA on the work agenda and are strong in areas such as innovation, health and education. OECD would like to cooperate closely with BFA through co-hosting seminars or releasing reports to provide policy advice for world leaders and make our voice calling for multilateralism better heard by the world.
