On January 23, 2013, the BFA Secretariat held a press conference in Beijing. BFA Secretary General Zhou Wenzhong announced that the BFA 2013 Annual Meeting would be held from April 6 to 8, 2013 in Boao, Hainan, China. The meeting has a theme of “Asia Seeking Development for All: Restructuring, Responsibility & Cooperation”

Secretary General Zhou Wenzhong pointed out that this year’s meeting would be the 12th annual meeting of BFA. The forum would invite a dozen leaders of some countries in Asia and other regions, including Chinese leaders, and eight international organization chiefs, including IMF, to attend this year’s annual meeting. It is estimated that the meeting will involve about 2,000 attendees from all over the world, including governmental leaders, representatives of business circle and academic circle, media chiefs, and reporters. The meeting will exceed the 11th meeting in standard and scale.

According to Zhou Wenzhong, further enhancing regional cooperation and achieving higher level of economic integration is an important way of promoting economic development in Asian countries. Holding such faith and sense of mission, the forum has held its annual meetings by regarding development as the lifeline, cooperation as the keynote, and win-win result as the goal.

In 2013, the world economy was still faced with a not optimistic prospect and the major economies found their paths of renovation not so smooth. The “mutual help” spirit stimulated by the financial crisis was from time to time interrupted and weakened by inharmonious noises such as protectionism. In view of this, BFA thinks it is necessary to reiterate and promote the spirit of “Asia seeking win-win result,” find out common interests, surpass differences, and achieve joint development. Based on such understanding, feedback of extensive opinion solicitation, and result of repeated demonstrations, BFA decides that the theme of its 2013 Annual Meeting is “Renovation, Responsibility, and Cooperation: Asia Seeking Joint Development.”

Zhou Wenzhong introduced the overall plan and preparations for the meeting, which centered on three key words: Restructuring, Responsibility, and Cooperation. The annual meeting will have 51 discussion events in various forms. Their contents cover the review, reform, transformation, and innovation of the development paths of different areas and different industries. They call for an enhanced sense of responsibility for joint development with governmental decision makers, corporate operators, and individuals, and actively promote the economic cooperation at all levels and in all fields.

Enterprises show high enthusiasm in attending the meeting. Now, a large number of transnational corporations that are among Fortune 500, leading enterprises from Asia / emerging economies, and outstanding SMEs have been invited to attend the meeting.
