On January 16, 2019, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) organized the first activity of the year for club members at the China World Summit Wing in Beijing around the theme of “Forging Ahead—Global Economic Forecast 2019”. Participants discussed hot-button issues including global economic trends and future investment areas.

In his speech, Secretary General Li Baodong acknowledged members and partners as important participants and supporters of BFA, which have played great roles in shaping BFA’s development. In the future, BFA will closely follow regional and global changes and organize events that are more reflective of business needs, from which its members and partners can harvest more benefits.

Chen Xingdong, Chief China Economist of BNP Paribas, shared his insights regarding today’s economic landscape, pointing out that China’s economy remains promising amid concerns, although the world economy is expected to slow down this year. China and the US could reach a trade deal, another wave of reform could happen and new growth momentum could be created.

During the panel discussion, panelists explored, from different perspectives, challenges and solutions to the Chinese economy, and shared their views with BFA members with regards to issues such as business development and investment—in the new international context.

The event was moderated by Cao Li, Vice President of the BFA Academy and was attended by 130 representatives of BFA members and partners.
