Zheng Xinli: Three steps to take for an Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank
Origin:Boao Forum for Asia      Time:2013-10-03 17:00:11    Views:299904

Mr. ZHENG Xinli, Permanent Vice Chairman, China Center for International Economic Exchanges, recalls Chinese President Xi Jinping’s proposal of a investment and financing platform for Asian infrastructure at the Boao Forum for Asia’s Annual Conference 2013. President Xi again substantiated his proposal by putting forward the idea of an Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank only yesterday. This shows that China is serious about the financing solution for infrastructure in Asia.

There are three steps to take: First, there should be several enthusiastic initial partners to get this bank launched. Second, there should be a sustainable mechanism to get the bank going on a commercially viable basis. Third, deep savings of the Asian economies need to be tapped in creative ways and channelled into infrastructure.
