Secretary General Zhou Wenzhong Attends the 10th Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong

On the morning of January 16, 2017, the 10th Asian Financial Forum, co-organized by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. At the invitation of the HKTDC, BFA Secretary General Zhou Wenzhong attended the opening ceremony and shared his insights at the Panel Discussion on Prospects for ASEAN held on the afternoon of the same day.
During his speech, Secretary General Zhou introduced the progress and prospects of the ASEAN Economic Community and its involvement in the “One Belt, One Road” initiative to over 2,800 participants from various countries. He also shared his observations regarding how to advance financial and economic cooperation as well as regional free trade arrangements in East Asia at a time of intensifying de-globalization.
Around the theme of “Asia: Driving Change, Innovation and Connectivity”, the 10th Asian Financial Forum brought together nearly 100 financial and economic policy makers, economists and executives of multinational companies from different countries and territories.
After the opening ceremony, Secretary General Zhou had a meeting with Leung Chun-ying, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, in the Government House. Mr. Leung congratulated the Boao Forum for Asia on its growing international influence, saying that the HK SAR is happy to leverage its unique strengths to support and participate in BFA Annual Conferences and sessions, and that he is looking forward to attending the Annual Conference to be held in March. Secretary General Zhou expressed his gratitude to the HK SAR and its local people for their long-time support, adding that the BFA will be happy to provide a platform for Hong Kong to be part of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and regional cooperation in Asia.
