Chairman BAN Ki-moon Visits China

On the evening of May 13, 2018, BAN Ki-moon, the newly-elected chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) and the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, and his wife YOO Soontaek, arrived in Beijing to kick off their three-day visit to China.

BAN Ki-moon was elected as the chairman of the BFA during the BFA Annual Conference in April this year, succeeding Yasuo FUKUDA, the former chairman of the BFA and former prime minister of Japan. This is the first time that BAN Ki-moon visits China in his official capacity as the BFA chairman.

BAN Ki-moon will meet with the leaders of China, the BFA host country and hold working meetings with ZHOU Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of the BFA and Chief Representative of China to the BFA and Secretary General LI Baodong and others.

BAN Ki-moon's entourage includes KIM Sook, a special advisor to the Chairman and former ambassador of the ROK to the United Nations and KIM Bong-hyun, Director of the office of BAN Ki-moon and former ambassador of the ROK to Australia.
