On the morning of May 31, 2018, Secretary General LI Baodong met with Dr. CHANG Junhong, Director, ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), at the secretariat.

LI appreciated AMRO's efforts in maintaining regional macroeconomic and financial stability and providing intellectual support for Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization (CMIM), and considered that AMRO and the CMIM are helpful supplements to and attempts in the existing international economic and financial governance system. As an important platform for promoting economic integration in Asia, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) is willing to foster closer cooperation with regional organizations including AMRO.

LI pointed out that BFA will remain focused on the economy, and at the same time commit itself to leading the international major and frontier topics. It will actively expand the five major fields of science and technology, health, culture, education, and media. The active participation of AMRO and other international organizations to the BFA is highly welcomed.

CHANG congratulated the BFA achievements and said that AMRO attaches importance to the economic development of Asian countries, pays attention to the macroeconomic and financial operations of the region and 10+3 member countries, and stands ready to play a bridge role among Asian countries. It is willing to strengthen cooperation with the BFA in the aforesaid five new fields, with a view to promoting the establishment of a regional economic cooperation system.
