Secretary General LI Baodong met with MOK Chi Wai, President of the Macao Youth Federation (MYF), and his entourage at the Secretariat on the afternoon of June 12, 2018.

LI extended a welcome to MOK Chi Wai and spoke highly of the MYF that has made great efforts in unifying the youth and social elites in Macao and promoting the exchanges among youths between Macao and Mainland China and other countries in the region.

LI said that China, as the host country, attaches great importance to the development of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA). In April this year, the keynote speech delivered by  Chinese President XI Jinping at the opening ceremony of the BFA Annual Conference 2018 sent a positive signal that China would continue the reform and opening-up, uphold multilateralism, and oppose trade protectionism. This has aroused a positive global response.

LI stressed that the youth, who are the key to the future of the country, should keep the motherland in mind and the whole world in view, keep abreast of major issues of common concern to all countries such as society, people's livelihood, governance, and technological innovation, and contribute to building a community of a shared future for humanity. The BFA secretariat stands ready to work with the organizations such as the MYF and make a success of the next BFA Macao conference based on the two previous successful conferences.

On behalf of the MYF, MOK congratulated LI Baodong on his election as the Secretary General of the BFA, and said that the Macao SAR Government and the Central People's Government offices in Macao are highly concerned about and support the third BFA conference in Macao in 2019. The MYF will continue to promote BFA and the Boao Spirit in Macao. At the same time, the conference will demonstrate to the international community the notable achievements made in the “One Country, Two Systems” practice over the past 20 years since Macao's return to China.
