Secretary General Li Baodong Meets with Singaporean Ambassador Stanley Loh

Secretary General Li Baodong met with Mr. Stanley Loh, Ambassador of Republic of Singapore to China, on August 15 at the Secretariat of Boao Forum for Asia.

Secretary General Li expressed his gratitude for Singapore’s long-lasting support for Boao Forum for Asia (BFA). He highly appreciated the contributions to the Forum from Singaporean members of the BFA Board. In addition, Secretary General Li gratefully acknowledged the keynote speech by H.E. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, at the opening of the BFA Annual Conference 2018.

Ambassador Loh congratulated BFA Secretariat on successfully organizing the Annual Conference. He said that the keynote speech by President Xi at the opening of the Annual Conference showed China’s stand on major international and regional economic issues, which was full of diplomatic wisdom and attracted global attention. He pointed out that the Annual Conference proved BFA’s important role in promoting regional dialogues.

Secretary General Li briefed Ambassador Loh on BFA’s future development strategies and he expressed hopes for cooperating with Singapore in a wider range of areas. Ambassador Loh acknowledged the strategy to further expand BFA’s coverage to technology, health care, education, culture and media while keeping focusing on economic issues. He then introduced to Secretary General Li the major cooperative projects between Singapore and China in recent years, especially those within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Both of the two sides hoped for future collaboration and support to each other’s programs and events.
