Its functions include: to identify the theme and sub-topics for the BFA annual conference on the basis of the research and analysis for the global economy; to develop and provide economic forecasting on issues consistent with the goals and policies of BFA; to provide first-hand information regarding the major developments in the Asia-Pacific region; to look into the major research subjects in the areas of economy, trade, commerce and finance within the Asia region and with the BFA cooperation partners; to provide intellectual resources for BFA conferences, seminars, and workshops; to provide human resource development programs for members and other partners of BFA; to establish a virtual network and a clearing house for other research and training institutes in Asia and elsewhere. Each year, the RTI publishes three annual reports, including the Annual Report on the Progress of Asian Economic Integration, the Annual Report on the Asian Competitiveness, and the Annual Report on the Development of Emerging Economies. It oversees the publication of the Boao Review, BFA’s official bilingual quarterly publication both in Chinese and English, which produces special reports such as the Report on Micro and Small Business Finance, Report on Internet Finance and Top 100 Most Influential Asian Companies.
